Die Galerie Schürmann hat sich seit der Eröffnung im Jahr 1992 zum Anlaufpunkt für Kunstfreunde in Kamp-Lintfort und am Niederrhein entwickelt. Während in den ersten Jahren die klassische Bildrahmung und der Verkauf von Kunstdrucken die Schwerpunkte waren, versteht sich die Galerie heute als Kunstgalerie, Kunsthandel und Fachwerkstatt für hochwertige Rahmungen.
Der jetzige Inhaber Andreas Verfürth, gelernter Tischler und Hochbautechniker, hat durch die intensive Auseinandersetzung mit der Kunst und der gestalterischen Arbeit einen vielschichtigen Entwicklungsprozess durchlaufen. Sein besonderes Interesse liegt in der klassischen Moderne und der abstrakten Kunst. Zahlreiche Ausstellungen hat er dazu inzwischen in seiner Galerie und bei Unternehmen veranstaltet.
Durch den Kontakt und die Zusammenarbeit mit vielen Künstlern unterschiedlichster Richtungen, versteht er sich heute selbst als Kunstschaffender. In seiner Arbeit sind dabei für ihn die Worte von Mildred Scheel Richtschnur und Leitmotiv geworden:

Andreas opened the gallery in 1992. In the first years the focus was on classical picture framing and the sale of artprints. It took some time until his decisiveness and his passion for abstract art brought him into contact with artists of the Zero Group - which are more and less local - such as Günther Uecker, Otto Piene and Heinz Mack, whose graphic works he has represented ever since.
Although at that time, the gallery location in Kamp-Lintfort did not provide the best condition to attract people interest in art or art collectors. But with Andreas vision, determination and ideals he has been able to acquire artists all over Germany like Christo, Markus Lüppertz, Mikio Watanabe and Christoph Pöggeler and convinced many buyers and collectors.
Nowadays not only Kamp-Lintfort has developed from a monosturctered mining community into a divers business location on the edge of the metropolitan region Rhein-Ruhr, but also the galleries collection of art has increased. He realized exhibitions at places of historical interest, such as the Orangery and the vaulted cellar at our wonderful monastery Kloster Kamp.
Of 6-7 exhibitions per year, 3 take place at external places, 4 in the gallery. The gallery focuses on the more thoughtful part of contemporary art and exhibits artworks on paper, paintings, sculptures and photos.
Art is not a privilege for a few, but an offer for all.
